Q. Where are you from?

A. Windsor, Ontario, Canada with stints in: Ottawa, Niagara Falls and New Brunswick. Currently living in Phoenix, Arizona.

Q. What Motorcycle have you chosen for the Ride?

A. Still working on that one. I currently have a busted up Canadian 1994 Yamaha Virago XV1100 and an American 2004 Kawasaki ZRX1200.

Q. Tell us about your riding experience?

A. I don’t fit too well in cars and after driving my 1986 Cavalier into the ground, decided to become “bus people” while working in Ottawa. I did that for about a year and then decided I should give motorcycles a try. I did my training May 14, 2000 and then bought the Virago. While in Ottawa, I rode twice to the maritimes (Saint John, NB and PEI) through New England; numerous trips to Montreal; a whirlwind tour of Hazard (Kentucky), Atlanta, DC, Philadelphia and New York City, and a number of trips in the 401 corridor and to Niagara Falls. I also spent a couple of weeks riding from Ottawa to Atlanta and then across to Phoenix when I moved here. Since then I’ve made a few trips to San Diego on the Virago and the Kawi, as well as a couple trips to Nogales to renew my visa and a trip to the Trinity test site in New Mexico.

Q. What unique item are you going to pack for the trip?

A. As little as possible. Shoelaces, hockeytape, camelback, a knife, matches… survival stuff just in case. I’ve broken down a couple times and ran out of gas as well (Texas is a big state).

I managed to put in excess of 100,000 miles on the Virago over 8 years and on the Kawi I’ve put on 30,000 miles in three years.
